We Need to Talk About Pharrell Williams (Piece by Piece)

Ok, we are sticking to the animation theme for a bit I guess. It segways nicely from King of Kings and also links to a super cool and creative Christian, Pharrell Williams. But that’s not all this post has a twist. You see the further down the Pharrell rabbit whole I ventured, the more it started to connect with Jesus in a very unexpected way.

I love stories of artists who constantly reinvent themselves. There is something neat about creative souls who manage to evolve themselves into a new vibe and still hang on to some of the essence that I fell in love with at the start.

So when I heard that Pharrell Williams got a biopic—but not just any biopic, a LEGO one? Well… who would not want to see that?

Pharrell Williams’ Piece by Piece – A LEGO Biopic Like No Other

Video Trailer of Pharrell Williams Lego movie.

Released on October 11, 2024, Piece by Piece is an animated retelling of Pharrell’s life, built entirely with LEGO. Pharrell is one of those rare creatives who seems to shape culture in real-time. Whether it’s music, fashion, art, or even architecture, his influence is massive.

He’s produced genre-defining tracks, collaborated with everyone from Daft Punk to Hans Zimmer, and somehow remains one of the most innovative voices in entertainment.

Why Was Pharrell’s Biopic Made with LEGO?

Well, it actually makes perfect sense. Pharrell has always seen the world as something to build and rebuild—whether it’s a sound, a style, or an idea. His music, with its playful beats and unexpected elements, feels like the auditory version of snapping LEGO bricks together.

He’s all about creating joy, imagination, and possibility, which is exactly what LEGO represents.

LEGO’s Christian Roots & Pharrell’s Journey of Faith

And here’s something even more fascinating—LEGO itself has roots in faith. The company was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen, a devout Christian (whaaaaat!) who believed in creating quality toys that would inspire creativity and integrity in children. The name LEGO even comes from the Danish words leg godt, meaning "play well." Christiansen saw his work as more than just making toys; it was a way to instill values of perseverance, imagination, and craftsmanship—principles that align closely with faith.

Pharrell’s own journey of faith and creativity mirrors that foundation in many ways. He’s spoken openly about gratitude, purpose, and spirituality shaping his life and career. He’s a believer in divine timing, often crediting his success to a bigger plan at work. Pharrell has also worked on projects that reflect his faith, including gospel-influenced music and collaborations that promote positivity and purpose.

Pharrell Williams & Other Famous Christians in Music

Pharrell isn’t alone in the music industry when it comes to faith. There are plenty of high-profile artists who have spoken about their Christian beliefs and how they shape their creative work.

From Chance the Rapper openly praising God in his music, to Kanye West’s Jesus Is King, (although Kanye seems to have fully partnered with the dark side these days) to Justin Bieber’s well-documented faith journey—there’s a growing list of mainstream artists who balance success with a strong connection to their beliefs.

Much like these artists, Pharrell’s approach to faith isn’t necessarily traditional, but it’s undeniably a key part of his worldview. He’s talked about the importance of spirituality in interviews, and his music often carries themes of gratitude, purpose, and uplifting others—values that align with Christian teachings.

Pharrell Williams & LEGO: A Perfect Match

Now, as I continue my quest to find incredibly talented people who live in the real world but have a deep connection to something bigger than themselves, Pharrell absolutely earns a top spot. And seeing his story unfold through LEGO—a brand that was originally built on faith, creativity, and integrity—makes it all the more meaningful.

Plus, let’s be honest—if anyone can make a LEGO movie feel groundbreaking, it’s him.
